Analyst firm Gartner released some new data Tuesday that shows people are buying Samsung phones by the truckload. Samsung’s worldwide market share in mobile phones jumped to 21.6%, up from 16.3% a year ago — beating all other phone manufacturers, including Nokia and Apple.
Gartner attributes Samsung’s rapid rise to “record sales” of the company’s Galaxy smartphones. The success of the recent launch of the Galaxy S III surprised even Samsung, Gartner said, having sold 10 million phones in just the first two months of release.
